Located on the beach this is not a tourist trap with mediocre food. Instead it is a surprisingly creative beach restaurant with good service and very well prepared food. I had the bbq chicken salad. It was pulled tender and tasty. Salad was tossed but slightly over dressed. Not bad considering the dressing was delicious. I would have licked the plate. My colleague had the hamburger. Very good and well prepared. Overall a nice restaurant on a beach and a pleasant surprise.

There was nothing that stood out to me as unique about Sandy's. Located on the beach(not the pier), the restaurant's view was not exactly exceptional, although not bad. The menu was limited, without many options. There was nothing on the menu that I really wanted to eat. The food was also average, although the presentation was decent. The service was average, and so was the food. There were limited seafood choices on the menu even though it was a "seaside" restaurant. Sandy's did not meet up to my expectations.

Decided to drive down for the hubby's birthday to have a nice mid lunch by the beach. The seating area was really nice and clean and it wasn't too hot or too cold even though it was a closed outdoor area. We started with the chips and salsa and they were not too bad too much seasoning on the chips and the salsa was super spicy! The hubs got the fish and chips and he like that it was fresh fish that was fried and the batter wasn't too much and it was crispy. Their fries were by far our favorite fries. I got the American Kobe burger. I do have to say it was a little too salty but the meat was cooked perfectly and the picketed onions on top were so yummy. It added such flavor. For his birthday they gave us this s'more wonderland. So yummy! We will definitely be retuning to Sandy's.

I sat outside here and the weather was perfect. Our waiter was really nice and asked us about our day and where we were from. To drink I ordered the orange vanilla soda. It was super light and refreshing. I ordered the arugula salad and the lamb shank. The salad had a nice tart vinaigrette. My entree was super tender and delicious. However it might of been a little over salted. If you're going to eat here sit outside. It's beautiful and the weather will most likely be sunny.

Really enjoyed the Veggie Burger and Home-made Parmesan potato chips with homemade ketchup BBQ Chicken salad - good sized portion and was pretty good. Bloody Mary was also well done. Excellent service. Very attentive and professional. Enjoyed the view on the beach. 2nd visit and we plan to return.

Ok so this place has location location location, but what they are lacking is fair pricing and quality food. The good is just okay and its usually really pricey for something average at best. For example the fish and chips is about $15 and you only get 2 strips and a handful of fries, I mean come on! I do come here a lot because it's clean they have good service and like I said LOCATION! If you come here don't except a lot on the food front, but come to enjoy the beautiful sneery!

Came here for my first time and I was super excited because of the prime location right on the beach. The view was to die for, soooooo pretty. Loved the atmosphere. The only part of the night that I wasn't satisfied with was the service from our waitress. She wasn't very attentive and was sorta rushing us. Hopefully I sit in a better section next time to get the full experience that I was expecting.

Great atmosphere along the boardwalk. It's American food but they also have a decent selection of seafood. I split food with my daughter. We had the burger and fish & chips. Fish was really good! Only complaint on it was it was a bit too thick. The burger was also really good, very flavorful. My son had a steak & cheese flatbread. It looked good but I didn't try it. Service was EXCELLENT! I would go back again.

If you are looking for a restaurant beach side you have come to the right place! Location, location, location! They have a huge outdoor patio with a gorgeous view of the water and the pier! The food and drink selections were ok and expensive.

How convenient! Great food and drinks at the beach next to the pier! Melissa our server was phenomenal! Very attentive and personable! Food was beyond tasty and reasonable. Cocktail menu, and prime people watching real estate is second to none! Highly recommend, some Sunday $4.00 Mimosas and the fish tacos!

Came in for happy hour and had the most delightful bartender Crystal! She was quick to explain the menu to me and offered drinks I went with the Margarita Fresca Service was attentive and quick I also ordered the chips & salsa ...not so good chips where cold and rock hard I could barely chew them without chipping the tooth told the bar tender and she (Crystal) was quick to replace them but even the second order was rock hard! I think it's just there style of "chips" I like light and crispy chips These where not ..ohh well the happy smiling bartender made up for it! Atmosphere was the perfect beach state of mind ! right at the beach and a view of the pier! Crystal continued to take care of me making sure my drinks where replenished Great hangout I will definitely return!

I went here to watch the sunset and have a drink outside. The have a prime location. There are fire pits outside. I did not eat but the food coming out to other tables looked very nice and the presentation was well done. Great spot to watch the sunset and have a few drinks.

I came to Sandys with my honey & Mr B & was confronted with a sign & staff that said due to health regulations that dogs were not allowed. I find this irritating and total BS especially since the day before I had went to second floor (located right across the street) along with several other resteraunts) in the same area that were perfectly fine with Mr. B dining with us (and much better tasting food I'm sure). Anyhow this time we ended up at Bomb burger for lunch that welcomed Mr B with a water bowl & later for dinner we went to where the old spitfire wood grill was (it's under new management now) & were welcomed there too. So to any other dog lovers that bring their babies on vacation with them ......avoid these dog haters that hide behind their "health code" laws because if it were true none of these other resteraunts in the same vicinity would allowed us.

We came in as a party of 4 including 2 kids last night for dinner and the service and food was phenomenal!! I have been her a few times and I have never been disappointed. Every food item i have tried has been awesome.. THis time, i ordered the seabass with cous cous and split it with my friend. We both agreed that it was the best meal we have probably ever had. The cornbread with siracha butter was just as amazing. We ordered the scallops because they have won great awards but i didnt think they were award worthy. Good, but not award worthy. We had the arugula salad which was fantastic and kids meals were a perfect portion..Fresh fruit was on point!! The service was excellent. Peter was our server. We were never rushed, he was very knowledgeable, fun and kind. He checked back on us often, told us all specials and desserts. We will obviously be back and bring and refer as many friends as possible. Thank you. Would have given 6 stars if i could have and its not easy to get 5 from me.

Never had a bad thing here. Service is great, even the new trainees are helpful and on point. On a lunch break to get my iced tea filled 3+ times is amazing!

The best part about living and working in such proximity to the beach is having the opportunity to dine with an amazing ocean view, and that's what my we did during my company lunch. Sandy's is a good venue for such an event because they valet, and have a decent sized patio for some privacy, right on the boardwalk. The overhead cover can be adjusted to your liking so you can have some shade, or bask in the sun. The view is great: great for surf- watching and people-watching, as my coworker obnoxiously notes "It's SOGO everywhere man! Suns Out Guns Out!", pointing to the usual Huntington Beach crowd. Obnoxious commentary aside, I had a good time. I love the drink choices there: they have a Watermelon and Cucumber Martini, and both were refreshing and didn't have that sickly, sugary aftertaste to it as with most cocktails. I also felt very healthy drinking them so that's a plus. I ordered the sea bass entree, and it was delicious. The sea bass came sitting on some creamy couscous and red pepper butter that was a perfect complement to each other. It looks like they don't normally have this on their lunch menu, only for dinner, so keep that in mind when you come. Actually I think coming here for dinner would be even more amazing because you can dine while watching the sunset without spending an arm and a leg. Yup, dinner at Sandys sounds like a winner to me!

I've been here a few times for a cocktail on the outside patio that's on the side of the building. The patio seating is self seated & it's full most of the busy times... Of course. You can have a drink and stand while you wait for a seat to open up. The service is great. The atmosphere is lovely. The cocktails are very Delish. I will continue coming here.

We selected this place for dinner due to the proximity while walking around HB and pier area. The service and food was mediocre. There was no wait for inside table and 30-40min wait for outdoor table. Wait time for food after placing our order was fairly quick. However, after food was served we weren't visited by our waitress. Also, tables could use coasters for your drinks, otherwise you'll get little puddles of water all over your table. Overall, it was a good (mediocre) experience.

We went to Sandy's on Wednesday night for my husbands birthday and family dinner! It was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere on the boardwalk is spectacular! The cocktails, I had their speciality margarita, was delicious! No one in our party of 6 was disappointed in their entree selection! The ribs fall off the bone clean! The seafood was fresh and flavorful! We all loved the cornbread appetizer and the fried string beans! Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable! We live in the next city over but I can't imagine any tourist passing up this experience! Make a reservation, they even call that day to confirm!

I've been to Sandy's quite a bit over past few year's, and more visits recently due to spending time with clients in HB. I love the veggie lunch sandwich. ...! It's the best. The vibes are great and you can't go wrong with enjoying a meal here.

These guys are awesome! It was our first time coming in and my birthday weekend and the bartenders were fun, energetic, and just totally awesome. They made us some Scooby snack shots and even brought me a free s'mores dessert! You gotta try the fish tacos and the tuna sandwich. Epic. Thanks for making my birthday awesome Dorothy and the gang! Will be back soon :) -Andrew and Taylor

If you get a table in the patio, you will get a fantastic view. But there is a smelly fishy smell in the air that's not from the beach. I have sensitive nose, so the smell bothered me a lot. The food was okay, but I have had better.

I came here on a whim after reading the reviews. I came late Sunday noon for brunch and proceeded to order a HB mule which is their version of a Moscow mule and a seafood layered cocktail with shrimp and lobster as an appetizer. It was great! The view is amazing and I love the atmosphere. The only complaint I would have is that my waitress was never to be found even after my drink was empty for a good 5-10. There was MANY times I had to get the bus boy to find her. But besides that everything was great. I will be back!

This is my go-to spot in the summers. Great beach vibes and awesome food. Must get the sweet potato fries w/garlic aioli and the shrimp/lobster cocktail! Brad, our server and bartender was amazing! Good energy and made perfect drinks. :)

First, the staff is friendly and accommodating. Kelly our waitress was awesome. She was patient, friendly and attentive. Second, the food is delicious. My family loved the fish and chips and the breakfast. Last but not least, the ambiance is great. The view is awesome. The covered patio is just feet from the sand but closed in so the sand isn't in your food. Fun during the day and I'm sure it's romantic at night.

Had our company lunch here yesterday, enjoying drinks, co workers and the visuals that come along with hanging out during the day at the beach! Great location, of course and there is valet parking which is very nice. First I had the watermelon martini, well two of them which I enjoyed. I was worried they would be too sweet but surprisingly they were not. The martini has watermelon puree in it which adds to the nice flavor. As a joke we ordered a Cosmo for a co worker then ended up trying one ourselves and Sandy's take on it was not bad. Then came a salad with crisp greens and just enough dressing. My main course consisted of sea bass which was OMG good. I would definitely order it again, it came on top of cheesy couscous which had bits of asparagus in it. There was also a ring of red sauce to dip your bites in and it was delicious, too. I ate almost every bite! You know what's next: dessert, of course - the servers brought out these dark chocolate pyramids of mouth heaven which had a small crispy wafer inside and drizzled dark chocolate and caramel (my all time favorite combo) and I loved it. I had heard a rumor this place was good but the rumor did not do it justice! HB is lucky to have this restaurant, I now have a go to when in the area.

I love Sandys! The view.. The food..The ambiance and everything in between are amazing! Highly recommended! We love sitting by the fire pits with a glass of wine enjoying the view and our favorite apps; seafood cocktail and popcorn shrimp.. Yummy! Ps... Good sunset spot!

Not only a steps...correction...a crawl to the beach, but the billion dollar views to go with it. It's located underneath Dukes, (same corporation owns Sandys) and its bringing its more relaxed service and atmosphere with it. This is the more chill version of Dukes, which might make some people hesitant to walk in wearing shorts and a tee. Not I said the local guy. And if you're feeling more relaxed than semi-formal, then come on down here. Same OK food at the foot of the pier but more relaxed, people watching, and happier spirits.

Came for Taco Tuesday. Tacos were great but the service was horrible. Drinks took about 15 mins to get. Had to ask multiple times just to get napkins. Wont ever be back on a Tuesday again

The food was good. Went in for a late lunch on a Saturday and caught the end of the happy hour menu. Thought the lunch menu was reasonably priced but the happy hour menu was even better. There was a short wait (come on though, it's at the base of the pier and I went on a nice beach weather afternoon) but they texted me on my cell when our table was ready which was great.

This is my second time dining at Sandy's. Both experiences were great. First time I came in it was for a late afternoon lunch and I had a beer flight and a couple of appetizers with colleagues. The location is amazing you can literally step out the door and you are on the sand. Tonight I had an early dinner with a good friend. I ordered the arugula salad and ribs. Everything was delicious and the service was very good. We didn't feel rushed at all even though it was nearing sunset. I would recommend this place if you're in the area and you want something good to eat with a nice atmosphere and attentive servers.

We came here on the weekend of the US Open of Surfing. OMG - too much scattered ass everywhere - girls, put on some clothes!!!! OMG! Ack, I'm getting old and prudish. Anyhow, the service, location & appetizers are what saves this place. The view is amazing - so get a table outside and enjoy. The sunsets cannot be beat - location is prime. The service was excellent - prompt, professional, and friendly. Turns out, this place is part of the Duke's family of restaurants. That explains the location. We had reservations for 6 pm on a Saturday and because of the massive amounts of people, we opted to valet. It's only $6 and it's very much worth it. You just have to prove you ate at Sandy's or Duke's in order to get the low valet rate - which is easy, just show them your receipt. Done. For apps, we had the seared scallops, fried green beans, and popcorn shrimp. OMG - all 3 were amazeballs. Seriously tasty. The scallops were my favorite of the bunch and that sweet potato medallion underneath was the perfect touch. I honestly could've eaten 3 or 4 plates of those. They were so good - even my friend who doesn't care for scallops loved them. That's a pretty big deal. For entrees, I had the flat iron steak. It was meh, at best. I was expecting more flavor out of the chimichurri. The greens were a bit too sour for me. The mac & cheese was probably the blandest thing on the plate. It was supposed to be blue cheese mac & cheese and I did not taste any blue cheese. The entire dish needed salt. My husband and his friend both had the NY steak and both said it was okay, not great, but decent. I had hoped the duck fat potatoes would be yummy but they were also bland and underwhelming. The mushroom sauce was off the charts good, though. They did good with that. My friend had the baby back ribs. She said they were good. They came with sweet potato fries, veggies, and cornbread. The cornbread was underwhelming but the fries were tasty. Oh and they have fresh brewed, tropical iced tea. Overall, strong 3 stars, no halves. I doubt we'd return - overpriced, okay food. Next stop is Duke's.

Went for drinks and snacks. It's located under dukes - ground level. The apps were good. No issues. Service was great. Awesome view. Great place to hang out for a few drinks.

First of all you can't beat the location. The staff is super friendly and the food is pretty good. I had the popcorn buffalo shrimp. It was good a bit hot but I'm good with that. I also had the burger which is not the best burger in the world but it ain't the worst either. I think there is room for improvement here. Although I didn't have but looked very good are the flatbread pizzas and the fish and chips. I will try one of those on my next visit. Because yes there will be a next visit from me.

Nice view... It's busy but I've never had to wait to get a seat... The arugula salad was delicious and so was the flatbread.... The beer menu has a nice selection...

Sandy' where do I start. Last night I was going to try Dukes, however, the wait was 1 1/2 hours. So my wife,2 1/2 year old and myself decided lets try Sandy's instead. I went to the front desk where I was over looked for someone who came in after me which kind of made me upset. I told them I needed a high chair for my son. When we got to the table no high chair. I asked 4 times waited about 10 minutes to get one. My wife and I ordered a regular Iced Tea and was given Tropical Iced tea. We asked for regular the waiter said oh we only have tropical. My wife then asked for a Dr Pepper and proceeded to watch our waiter walk by her no less then 3 times no drink. Finally we ordered our food. Now she has her drink. We ordered the Green beans which are extremely greasy. The Mushroom Flatbread was something that a bad home chef could make and the 29 dollar sea bass was oily and the shrimp they put in it were the frozen packaged shrimp you can buy at any local supermarket. Needless to say I will not be going back to this place and wished I waited for Dukes. Customer service was horrible and the food was not far behind.

Like I have said in my other bad reviews.. I dont like giving bad reviews at all, but sandys would probably have to be the worst restraunt I have ever beeen too. Maybe it was something I ordered? Food 2/5 : I got the surf burger which was awful. No flavor at all. Couldnt taste even the tuna. The second thing I ordered was the sweet potato hash brown. It was nothing special, sounded super delicious though.. Thats the reason why i gave this place a shot. Service 2/5 : service was meh. I mean i dont expect to be treated every second i am there, but our server said he would have my burger cut in half with out a problem and have the sauce for my hashbrown on the side. If youre going to say that, i expect you to keep your word. I remember his name, but i dont want to be a total ass. My food came.. Burger was in one peice and the sauce was alllllll over my hashbrown. Eck.

Here at Sandy's for breakfast in Huntington Beach. Hard to believe in this day and age a restaurant doesn't have Splenda for your coffee or sugar-free syrup for your hot cakes. But the view gives it a 10! :)

Revision to my previous review. Manager Leo was courteous enough to send us a personalized letter with a voucher to revisit the restaurant, which we did. We have been back twice for breakfast and we had great experiences both times, great waiters as well. We will continue to return.

With a group of 9 on a Thursday night, we had to wait about 20 minutes. All of the staff were really friendly. Both the hostesses were nice in seating our large group and all the wait staff were friendly and efficient. The buffalo shrimp appetizer was the best! The corn bread and scallops were good too. Between our group we had some flatbread pizzas (pretty good), burger (good), sea bass (very good) and flat iron steak (pretty good). The salads were also a big hit, but the kids chicken was not good at all (thin fried chicken, way over cooked with a bad batter). All in all pretty decent place. You have to valet park and present a check so they don't think you are parking and going just to the beach.

This is our summer hh go to place bc u can sit in the sun and look at the water. Not much selections on drinks but their hh are really good Happy Hour menu- Half off flatbread and burgers $5-$8 drinks I love their flatbread . All the selection are good . One of the item which were pretty good is tofu wraps but they discontinued it on the menu n u can't request it either . Service is amazing and no wait to sit outside I guess everyone likes the shades but my friends and I like to sit and tan .

Started out the night going to duke's on the upper level but had to wait over an hour so my girlfriend and I came down stairs to sandy's and it blew our expectations away every thing was great we got right in and both ordered the mixed grill with an arrangement of seafood. It was absolutely fantastic the waitress, Paige F kept our drinks full and was very polite. The kitchen didn't get the lobster on my girlfriend's plate but we told the waiter and it was out in minutes not a bad thing to say about sandy's recommend it to any one and every one had a great visit

The perfect place to watch the sunset under the pier at the Pier Plaza on Huntington Beach. Good times watching all the beach activity next to the beach walk in the outside area dining area as the sun goes down. Try the Garlic Tempura green beans as an appetizer to tantalize your taste buds!. P.F. Changs was always at the top on my list for the fried green beans but Sandy's has now taken first place! My new FAV for friend green beans. Came to Huntington Beach on Sunday for a 3 day business meeting #ONESummit and saw the sign for "Taco Tuesday" $2.50 each which became the catalyst to try it with a friend. We were not disappointed. I tried the shrimp tacos and a carne asada which were both very good for $2.50. My friend tried the chicken Taco as well but indicated the shrimp was better. The full entree dinners being served looked delicious so there will absolutely be a next time for Sandy's. A big shout out to Jason Pierce who is the General Manager/Partner and took the time to ask how our service was going. He gave us his card, a wooden coin for a free Sandy's S'more and a sign up flyer with a QR code to be able to receive special offers. The form asks for Birthday and Anniversary so they get A+ for marketing to make every customer count! TS Restaurants sure has it all going on!

Great location Great for lunch, Service is efficient . Food is good but for my very personal opinion is not very different from other dozen of restaurant. Im not telling that there is something wrong but just that is very standard. Dessert portions are too big maybee to giustify the price. Overall is good! If you are in HB spending A day on the beach is the best you can choose.

Imagine.... A balmy afternoon with an orange and red sunset throwing warm light and salty sea air through the open windows as muted chatter, laughter, and sounds of boardwalkers drift around your table. The smiling waiter brings a cold beer and you dig into cornbread with a spoon. You savor the fig-and-thick-prosciutto flatbread and talk about your day with your dining companions. When a filling sea bass entree dinner draws to a close, you hit the spotless ladies' room and prepare for the evening to continue at one of the fun nearby beach bars before walking another 5-10 minutes to the reasonably-priced parking structure off of Main Street.

Popped in last weekend, I knew it was going to be busy, we arrived after lunch and before dinner-what a delight. Missed the lunch crowd, waited about 5 minutes for our table. The hostess engaged in conversation (can anyone tell me the last time that happened?) what a surprise! Had all around excellent service from:waitress, food server, etc.... Food was not a disappointment, starters, and main courses were very good. Keep up the good work!

Not as good as I remember, it starts off with the busboy spilling a full glass of water in our shopping bag of new cloths. It's only water so no big deal, then wait ning 10 min for my first bottle of beer and the same for my second beer turning into what should have been a four beer meal into a two beer event. Meanie is small but looks ok but to be honest it all taste like glorified bar food. Will I be back? I'm sure I will, but I won't be rushing back any time soon. The location is great and they do just enough to keep people coming back.

Great location, great service, but the food was mediocre. Our soup of the day was a fish chowder and at $7 a bowl, I expected more flavor. The burgers were decent, but it's kinda hard to screw up a burger. My aunt had the daily fish special and half the fish looked burnt.

Came here with a large group and was able to sample a few of their dishes and appetizers. It's a good venue with great atmosphere, right next to the beach. - Mango Martini: This certainly went down easy, didn't taste overly boozy and the mango was delicious. It came with a large slice of mango -- yum! - Seared Scallops: This was my favorite dish of the evening. The scallops are large, succulent, perfectly seasoned and expertly cooked. I could have scarfed down 30 of them if no one was looking. - The Arugula Salad: Fresh and delicious. I liked the slices of manchego and the crunchy saltiness of the bacon -- went well with the vinaigrette. - Flat Iron Steak with Chimichurri: The steak was cooked perfectly, and it was tender, but I honestly didn't get much flavor from the chimichurri. I was looking for more zip, or more herbal freshness, but the sauce was a bit lackluster. -Sea Bass: The fish was cooked well, but lacked flavor. Maybe needed more salt? Overall a good experience here -- those scallops alone are enough reason to keep coming back.

First we were seated quickly. The restaurant was pretty empty since it was only 5pm on a weekday. We sat for about 8-10 mins waiting for someone to acknowledge us. The wait was made startlingly clear when the couple at the next table, who sat down AFTER us, was greeted and served drinks before anyone even came over to help us out. When someone finally did come, she apologized of course after we pointed out that no one had even bothered to say hello and things started to look up. That is, until they gave us the wrong drink and refused to admit it! My boyfriend ordered a Dark and Stormy (rum and ginger beer). What he got tasted very sweet with the obvious inclusion of some type of fruit juice and in no way was there ginger beer in there. When he pointed this out to the waitress, she insisted that it was the correct drink and said she even watched while it was made. That was a blatant lie because there was not a hint of ginger in that concoction. She then returned with a new glass of the Dark and Stormy drink, which actually tasted like it was supposed to - the contrast between the two drinks made the situation border on the absurd. Our server made up some story about how it must have been a new bottle of ginger beer that was making the difference in the taste. I say, if you made a mistake, just apologize. Don't pretend that you made the correct drink but the bottle was off because that's even worse. What kind of week old stuff are you using to serve your customers? We then ordered and received our appetizers only to discover the fish in the ceviche was obviously precooked and the only thing the citrus added to the dish was vitamin C. Sitting within view of the ocean, one would expect fresher seafood. I recognize that a tourist trap like Sandy's is only on the hook to deliver a baseline dining experience, but this was food and service we should have walked out on.

Nice little location right below Duke's and the pier. Awesome view especially since we went around sunset. No complaints about the service. Everyone was very attentive to our needs. I ordered the Jalapeño burger. You have an option to make it beef, turkey, or veggie. I chose turkey and you couldn't even tell it was turkey. Usually some places have dry turkey burgers, but not at Sandy's. The meat was nice and moist. It didn't have much of a kick it it, which is a-ok with me. It was served with crispy skinny fries. As for pricing, the burger wasn't too bad. Other dishes, like, seafood are on the pricey side, but that's expected. Anywho, I definitely recommend this place if you're cruising by the beach and want a nice place to eat and just kick back to watch the scenery.

Wonderful food! And you can't beat the location on the boardwalk. Romantic and casual. Great service! I had the sea bass with shrimp Couscous and asparagus spears. Yum! And healthy. We shared a fried green bean appetizer with homemade ranch. That balanced the fat! Yummy though. Excellent place and service!

The little brunette that works the front counter should be the nicest person in the place. Right?? I mean, she's your first experience of the restaurant. FAIL. she acted like someone had just stomped her heart and then her period started. After asking her if our reservations were for inside or outside her response was "obviously inside. Outside is a 40 minute wait." (Without even looking me in the eye) After she left to go finally take her meds another hostess came to the front and I asked her the same question. She said "well make it for whatever you want!" So we got our patio seat and had an amazing meal with our friends. Waitress and menu were both awesome! Highly recommend this place. Seafood and fish were incredible. Maybe a little too much butter but going to a restaurant is about flavor, not health. Hahah.

I got the mixed grill and was a very happy camper! It included lobster tail, jumbo shrimp, scallops and mahi mahi. Consistently great customer service and a beautiful view of the beach and pier. Can't wait to come back and try something else!

The menu here is kind of nontraditional but hey, you are in HB. The service was really great and you can't beat the view. The cost is very reasonable, especially for the area. I tried the breakfast burger and it was fantastic.

What an awesome restaurant! The food was great, they have great breakfast and lunch items as well as a gorgeous location. Definitely request a patio table if you're dining for brunch or lunchtime. We had a party of 7 and no one was disappointed with their food or service. We will definitely be back, and recommend!

came here on a Saturday morning with a big party for a birthday. the patio was spacious and comfortable right on the boardwalk. what a perfect location! the server was a total surfer dude, he was hilarious! (dude that tuna sandwich is righteous bro!) he was a little slow but we were a big party so I really can't complain about that. I had the cucumber mint water on their beverage menu but I added vodka and it was refreshing and perfect. (a little steep at $9 a pop, but for a beach location it's expected.) for my lunch I had the ahi tuna sandwich- SO yummy. light and refreshing and the tuna was so fresh and cooked just how I like it. my fiancé got the surf burger and omg that was so yummy I wanted to steal it from him! definitely getting that next time without the bun. it's like a crab shrimp cake. he also had sweet potato fries which I stole like 1 million of because they were the best thing ever. I got chips with mine that were just ok. potato chips just don't impress me that much in general. all of the food was really reasonably priced for the quality and the location. everyone's food looked delicious and we had no complaints. I will definitely be going back! it's the best food I've had in Huntington besides sushi on fire!

Five of us went there for brunch on a Saturday and we were all so disappointed just about everything! The one star is for the view!! My coffee mug had leftover cream inside. The plates and forks were dirty. The food was too salty. My girlfriend's sausage was way too dry. They filled coffee and water frequently but not the hot water. We had to ask few times. They were nice enough to give us some credit. Now we know why they still had reservations available on Saturday while almost everyone in that area who serves breakfast/brunch were all booked.

I've been here a few times on a lazy weekend day, it's always fresh and nice atmosphere for a drink and snacks with friends. Today we tried their brunch menu, it was an excellent time. I had the breakfast pizza, it was full of flavor with a fried egg on top. We will be back more often now that we know they have a solid brunch menu and atmosphere.

I was just at Sandy's for memorial day breakfast. This was my first time having breakfast here. I was not impressed. I ordered the eggs benedict. The biscuit was very dry and hard. The rest on my plate just followed as bland and not fresh. I will not be coming back.

Walked up with a group of 25 and was seated on a Saturday at sunset within 10 minutes! Food was fabulous and our waitress was AMAZING!!! She worked her tail off and always had a smile, never looked stressed. Even though we had babies running around and screaming and 25 different needs and wants! And the food!! You've got to go!

This place is finally getting it! much improved menu and improved service is much appreciated. im one of the die-hard Chimayo fans, so its taken a few years to win me over. I must say, the curse has been lifted for taking to beloved fire pit out on the patio! Loungey sofas and gas fire-pits are a cool replacement, especially these summer nights! If youre looking for a refreshing martini, visit Brad the Bartender. He may very well be one of the coolest dudes in HB. Serious. Get the Mango Martini, with the extra potent mangos, and relaaaax.

I've been here once before on a Sunday evening and sat at the bar gabbing away with a girlfriend while enjoying a delicious Michelada (bloody mary mix with beer). Cheers to them for having a house made bloody mix. I also remember really enjoying the low key atmosphere, and appreciated the separation from the chaos of Main St. bars and people. Sometimes you want a little night life, but need a nice balance of night life and coziness. You also can't beat the proximity to the sand, with it being the only restaurant right on the boardwalk (besides Duke's) in HB. Recently I came on a Sunday afternoon and had happy hour with the hubby and a friend. Convenient to be able to have the option of an affordable night 7 days a week. Had a Michelada (I'm obsessed) and shared the black and bleu burger with sweet potato fries with my hubby. They split the plates for us since we were sharing and we each got our perfectly proportioned share of sweet potato fries. Surprisingly with the combination of drinks and half a burger with fries, it filled us up. Burger was fantastic, juicy, and medium rare like we asked. Our server was really considerate, we had to point out a guy that was pissing on the side of their walls near the parking lot, it was right in line with our view and I didn't expect anything out of it, simply felt they should probably know so they can clean it up and tell that punk to go back to the IE...anyways when we got the check he comped one of our beers and apologized that we had to see that. It was a sweet gesture and I appreciated that. He was also as attentive as we needed him to be. He let us have our time until we asked for the check, it's nice not being rushed when you're soaking up such a beautiful day. All my times have been so pleasant anytime there's a gorgeous day out it makes me want to go here just for the view alone, it's a plus everything else about this place is great too.

Horrible service tried to order happy hour tacos at 3:29 PM and the bartender said it would be a few more minutes at 3:45 The kitchen still wasn't ready so I left. Taco Tuesdays is supposed to start at 3:30 PM. why it was the kitchen not ready? There was nobody in the place.don't go here.

This place gets 5 stars for location. I mean even if the food and service sucked, it's worth sitting here for a drink or something just because it's literally on the beach. I've come here twice now, once for dinner last year and for happy hour last week. The prices are decent for it being in such a great location, its nice but not stuffy fancy. I recommend happy hour which has a few good eats, like a burger and some flat breads for $5-$7 and some cheap beer and wine. Definitely a Huntington Beach must try.

Four of us had a late dinner on a Sunday evening after a very large lunch at Reunion Kitchen & Drink in Anaheim Hills. Instead of alcoholic drinks, we had two Iced Teas and two Strawberry Lemonades. Then we had Caesar Salads, which are beyond compare in California, much better than those back East. I ordered the BLT Wedge with blue cheese dressing, bacon and grape tomatoes. It was over dressed with a very sharp dressing. We followed the salads with "Noshes & Nibbles". The Gilroy Garlic Fried Green Beans were beer battered and accompanied with house-made ranch dressing and garlic chips. This was a good dish. My wife ordered Short Rib Tots, made from potato, pan jus and horseradish gremolata. They are crispy fried until golden brown. My wife and I agreed that this must be an acquired taste. she also ordered Skillet Baked Corn Bread with Sriracha honey butter...Absolutely Delicious. Our final dish was the Layered Seafood Cocktail with Lobster and Shrimp, orange chili sauce and avocado. There were tiny shrimp and shredded lobster, probably from the feelers. I would never order it again. For dessert we shared Sandy's Signature S'more. A fudge and graham cracker bar was topped with chocolate ice cream and whipped marshmallow fluff that was toasted. At least we finished the meal on a positive note.

Super cute place, wonderful view, location is awesome and it's association with the famous Duke's makes it somewhere to definitely check out.... menu looks great and items ordered were satisfactory! But WOW was service crappy!! We just went there for a light appetizer lunch and a couple drinks on a sunny day. The view was amazing and so we got what we set out to get, totally happy. But we definitely left the restaurant of choice feeling less than satisfied in the "well taken care of" department. Happy Hour SEVEN days a week, nice! * We ordered one item off the HH menu; the Fig, Pig & Bleu Cheese Flatbread. It was decent, a little dry for my taste but the others liked it just fine. * Popcorn shrimp was the other item we ordered (appetizer). It was super spicy and great! It was covered in a light layer of Buffalo sauce which is not a flavor I like, but I love the heat of it so I did like it. Great job on the shrimp! * Bloody Mary "extra spicy" was one of the best ones I've ever had in my LIFE! my friend ordered it and I wish I would have too, it was perfection! * I ordered the Paloma simply because it had chili infused tequila. Not bad at all, I'd order it again! Very good flavor with a slight tiny kick. * The others had either wine or beer, so whatever... we all know what those taste like regardless of where you order them. Service was reeeaaalllllllyyyyyy slow and, although somewhat friendly, not very attentive to our needs. I had to go to the bar twice to refill my water and we bussed our own dirty plates while waiting to get our bill. Once the bill was dropped off we never saw her again to get it picked up, so we had to take it to someone to get it rung up at the register. No lack of servers either, there were plenty of employees walking around, just none to help when and where needed. All in all, it was a good experience but I wouldn't rush to go back to this particular place when there are so many other awesome places in Huntington Beach and mainly because of the service. Cheers though!

I decided to give this place another shot after a manager kindly reached out to me after my last review. I visited at lunch this time, and had a completely different experience. The lunch menu is a little more basic, but still really fun. I enjoyed my food and service, and my dining companions did as well. Thanks to the management for convincing me to try this place one more time... It was well worth it!

Came here with my mom... Kylie was our waitress and she did an absolutely fantastic job. Never once did I have to ask for a refill, she was very courteous, and even offered great advice on the food and drink selections. I had the breakfast burrito and my mom ordered the arugula salad with salmon (delicious). Kylie recommended that we try the green beans for an appetizer (they are fried) and we were very pleased! They were excellent! The staff was very professional and friendly, and the restaurant has a front row view of the beach (literally steps away from the sand). If it's a nice day I recommend sitting outside! Will definitely come back to Sandys!

Poor Sandy's. Could be such a great place but fails miserably. Our night began as we checked at hostess stand. She stated we were first of our party to arrive and we were seated. 20 min. Later our friends texted from outside patio saying she seated them there! Same reservation! Mess! We finally ordered after an hour of waiter confusion. Entrees arrived 2 hrs after being seated. My friend ordered new york steak which looked like a gristly mess, and it was, and promptly sent back. Manager apologized . Too bad.. Go to Duke's instead..

** Summary ** Excellent food, excellent location, excellent service. Highly recommended! Sandy's serves up an eclectic menu of "California-style" food -- I'm still not sure exactly what they mean by that, but it doesn't matter because their food is delicious! (Combined total of booths and tables is 25-30; medium-sized restaurant.) ** Details ** Went to Sandy's on the evening of Sunday, July 27th for my parents' 40th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. Sandy's is located beneath the iconic Huntington Beach Pier, just below Duke's. The patio and the bar at Sandy's both have a sand-level view of the beach "wild life", if you get what I mean. The interior is well-decorated, lending the place a charming, relaxed atmosphere. The five of us who dined here couldn't have been happier. Our waitress was a friendly gal who answered all of our questions with ease. The waitress also had no problem opening and serving the bottle of wine we brought (a reasonable corking-fee was applied to the bill). Three of us ordered the prime rib (that night's special), and the other two had lamb. Everything was cooked to order and was absolutely superb. Our three appetizers came out well-ahead of the entrees and were delicious but not filling. Our entrees were perfect. A variety of people brought the main dishes out and brought them out quickly, so our server was not burdened at all when the food was ready to serve. The prime rib was extremely tasty, served with honest-to-God horseradish and not "creamed" horseradish. The two people who ordered the lamb were completely blown-away by the meal: the lamb was a *leg* of lamb, each leg nearly the size of one of those monstrous turkey legs that are sold at Disneyland. The lamb was fall-off-the-bone tasty, requiring no effort at all to enjoy, broiled in butter and delicious vegetables. For dessert we had the Sandy's trademark marsh-mellow ice cream (can't remember the exact name for it), as well as a crunchy dessert whose name I also can't remember. Both were unique and yummy. Go!

Tonight, a new dinner menu was unveiled and let me say that it is very limited. Lunch is a better option now. After getting over that disappointment, we reluctantly decided on the Kobe burger since the server suggested it. Honestly, had we not received our drinks, we would have left to eat on Main Street. I ordered the Blue Cheese Wedge salad and asked for Ranch instead of Blue Cheese because I don't like Blue Cheese and I was served a Blue Cheese Wedge anyway along with a side of Ranch. The burger was a thin patty on thick brioche type bun, heavy on arugula lettuce so all I could taste was arugula flavor and bread. The ketchup is some type of sweet n sour BBQ sauce mixed with ketchup which we thought tasted strange. They do not have regular ketchup on the premises- REALLY? How difficult is it to have bottles of ketchup for those that do not like your version of ketchup? Well that just ruined my french fries, which I was hoping would offset my burger disappointment. The place was dead slow...as slow as our table service was and it took about 35- 40 minutes for our burgers to make it to our table. Oh, and that extra strawberry lemonade refill offered to us by the staff cost extra too. They really should tell the customer that when offering a refill. We wont be back. So sad because it does have an exceptional view. $60 for 2 burgers, 1 salad and 3 lemonades = Ouch!

Wow! The service was so friendly and the food was superb! I think our server's name was Paul and he was a sweetheart. We had the seafood chowder and it was just as he described it! So flavorful! The cute female bartender made me a pineapple mojito and it was excellent too- great spot!

This is a local haunt for us when we are in downtown huntington beach. this place has undergone a change in ownership or something. The inter appearance has changes, the menu a bit...i'm not completely , but i will go back for an additional mean and drink before I make my final decision of the changes. We loved the former Andy Davis deco and the view...

Great place to hang out after a walk on the pier or Boardwalk. Loud bunch at the bar--seemed like employees that were off the clock & drinking. Went for happy hour--limited drink & food menu of course. Our table opted for ceviche, fish tacos, flatbread. All decent except the weird ceviche recipe!!! I love ceviche & have enjoyed a dozen different versions--however I have never had it with diced olives, cucumber, what appeared to be radishes & other fillers--very little fish. Don't call it a ceviche but a cold somewhat seafood salad. Corn chips were home made but stale. Will go back for the friendly staff & to try other items.

I chose this place because the high reviews that it got here on Yelp, I should've gone with my very choice which was Duke's. Duke's is above this restaurant & has a prettier view of the ocean. We started with a BLT salad which was good & the Gilroy Fried Garlic Green Beans, they were so greasy & you couldn't taste garlic at all on them. I requested salt & pepper which took almost 10 minutes to get & was already done with my salad. The Fish & Chips dish was also very greasy & the fries were cold, we also had the Flat Iron Steak that came with Mac & cheese which was good & creamy but was so cold that I swear it just came out of the refrigerator. The steak was very tasty & tender but it would've been nice to have my side to eat along with it. We told the server & he took care of heating up the Mac & cheese & replaced the French fries but it took over 10 minutes to get them back. We didn't order dessert but the server brought us a s'mores ice cream on the house because of the problems that we had, the dessert was the best thing about dinner. The service was also very slow & the table next to us was very loud. Very big disappointment & was not worth at all the $95 (that included only 2 drinks) & the tip.

I came here for a birthday. We reserved a table for 15 or so and we had one server with help. She was accommodating by adding chairs. We stayed late, but the server did not mind. I'm surprised there were so few people. This is a "grill" but both Duke's and Sandy's are beautifully decorated from the front door to the menu. They are on the high end in terms of pricing. We shared flatbreads, which were pretty fair in price and taste. I got the ceviche and cornbread with honey Sriracha butter, both of which were good. I wouldn't say the ceviche is the best I've ever had, but it was okay. The cornbread was served in a skillet and moist. My cousin's choice, fish and chips, was also a solid choice. I never order fries, but ate so many of his! Everyone else got fish entrees so that ended up being extremely expensive and the plates were small.

Normally restaurants with small menus are my favorite because it kind of forces you to pick something and usually everthing is really good. This was not the case. There was nothing on the menu I really wanted to try. We ordered Ceviche that was sour and gray looking, a Tuna sandwhich that came with side of chips, a steak flatbread pizza, cornbread and a turkey sandwich. The best thing was the cornbread. At least we went during Happy Hour which the bill came out to be surprisingly inexpensive for 3 people. I don't think I'll come here again though. Everything tasted a little bland to me :(

My sister and I had lunch here at a great table over looking the beach. We had one of the best seats in the house and really enjoyed the view. We walked to the restaurant and were a few minutes late for our reservation. They were very kind and held it for us. Our waiter was pleasant but seemed a little over loaded and there were some big breaks between time when he would come check on us. He got us everything we requested but we ran out of water and drinks several times. The food was very nice. I had a salad that was great and a flatbread pizza that was good. My sister really enjoyed her veggie burger. Overall a fun dining experience with the location being by far the best part. I thought the cost was reasonable.

I came here the other day for lunch and I had a great experience. Since it isn't the busy summer time yet, we were able to be seated outside next to the window. The restaurant is right on the beach next to the bike/walking path with a beautiful view of the ocean. There is a cover over the outdoor eating area so you won't get too hot but still feel the warmth of the sun on you. The manager who sat us and our waitress were both very friendly and asked us how our day was. The manager even came and cleared our plates and asked us how our meal was when we were finished. I love seeing involvement from managers. I ordered the Turkey and Brie sandwich. My grandma ordered the Barramundi fish special. You can check out my photos for the food descriptions. Both dishes were fresh and full of flavor. I also loved the presentation. Always ask about their specials because previous times I have been here the specials have always sounded even more delicious than the usual menu items. Another time I ate here I ordered the tortilla soup which was also delicious. I haven't been here during dinner hours but it is a great spot to have a long lunch and enjoy the sun, location, and tasty food.

Great location, prompt friendly service, and a nice beachy ambiance. 6 of us dined here to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday and had a fun, memorable time. We enjoyed the skillet backed corn bread (accompanied by jalapeño butter - whooda thunk?), layered seafood cocktail, and mushroom flatbread. I was underwhlemed by my steak, it was undercooked but then again if I wanted a good steak I should have gone to a steakhouse), but everyone else seemed to enjoy their orders which included the Sea Bass, Mixed grill, and Cioppino. There were several large groups the night we were there so clearly this is a favored destination for celebrations.

I've been here 3 times, and the only thing that has ever been excellent is the friends I brought with me. The food is average, and every time I've gone here at least one of our orders has been incorrect. I paid 16 dollars for a small salmon entree, which was good but not even Slapfish quality and I would rather eat there for less money and better food. The servers during my experiences there were not attentive and acted annoyed by our questions, such as WHY a fried fish taco costs 3 dollars more than a grilled. My friend ordered fried fish tacos and they never told us about the charge. Keep in mind, their fried fish taco is a triangle shaped fish filet that does not fit in a taco because they simply cut up a big dinner filet and slap it into some tortillas. I've had my orders wrong on other occasions here too, and overall was just not thrilled by the food. Their happy hour menu has burgers and beer on it, that's it! I work at a 4 Diamond Resort here in Huntington Beach and I live downtown. I make a point of not suggesting this restaurant to my guests because of the experiences I've had. Sorry, I get better service and food for less money at Wahoos.

I went here for the first time for a friends birthday! We went on a Sat for brunch and it was fabulous. The service as great and we sat outside in the patio. We all ordered something different and all three were delicious. I ordered the sweet potato chorizo hash and highly recommend it. It sounded different but interesting and certainly did not disappoint. I will be going back soon to take my husband.

I came down to Sandy's because I had a few out-of-countryers with me and Sandy's is a really cool on the boardwalk sort of place to go for dinner and drinks. I started off with a shot if Patron and a margarita which is always a good start when you are in a mission. Oh yeah, tonight is my 9 year anniversary so we are on a mission:) First up was an order of pan seared scallops. They were served on top tomatoes and they were very yummy and they didn't last long. Next up was the jalapeño burger. I was a little hesitant to order it at first because I am not a huge fan of hot stuff but it was a really nice burger and not very spicy at all. Kylie was our server and she was very nice. We were checked on by the manager which is always a nice touch. I have been here quite a few times over the years but it is usually for lunch. Tonight I received excellent service and and I was able to show my out of town era a great time!

We hung around Huntington Beach for 4th of July and came to Sandys for some drinks and food. Nice location since it's right next to the beach. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to start off. Loved their flatbreads! Both the steak flatbreads and meatball flatbreads were really good! Everything else was just meh or plain gross...mussels tasted too fishy and didn't have enough flavor and the ceviche was a bit mushy and didn't seem fresh at all - came out looking grey and old. The main entrees weren't any better either. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi with red quinoa and the fish was extremely dry and bland. Best part of dinner were our back to back double shots of Jameson ;)

Went to Sandy's with my family last night. It was so incredible everything was just so delicious and yummy. The service is great everyone is just in the best mood. My husband had the sea bass with couscous which was beyond delicious , I opted for the flat iron steak with Mac & Cheese ! So good beyond belief. We had an amazing evening and plan to return. The only reason I am giving them 4 stars is because of there appetizers were tiny servings.

Organizing a corporate Christmas event is always extremely stressful. Thank goodness a friend recommended Sandy's. Our entire office was extremely grateful for the suggestion as the restaurant was not only accommodating to our somewhat picky crowd but also organized which is a relief for a group of 40+ people. It also didn't hurt having a bartender like Brad to loosen up the team!

The third stop on a mini Bloody Mary tour with the SO, this bar definitely had the best tasting beverage. I asked for it spicy, and they delivered a perfectly spiced Bloody Mary with 1 huge olive. It was the smallest of the 3 orders, but was by far the best tasting one. We also split the surf burger. It was extremely tasty. Also when we just ordered the 1 item the guy asked if we were splitting it, and much to our surprise the order came out on 2 plates each with half the sandwich and a small basket of sweet potato fries! Excellent service, tasty food, and a great Bloody Mary.

Went to Sandy's with friends last Sunday for breakfast. The view was terrific, the food was very good, and the staff were friendly. We had the burger, the scramble, and the Main Street vegetarian breakfast. All very tasty! The only hitch was that one of our group ordered something extra after our breakfasts were served and it took an extremely long time to get it. Our server noticed the error and got right after it, but it was a little annoying since it wasn't that busy yet. Overall, a very nice experience and we will visit again, maybe for dinner this time!

Good food, nice location, attentive and friendly staff. We had the baked oysters for our appetizer and they were very good. For our main course we had the Sea Bass (YUM!!) and Lamb Shank (so-so) and followed up with the awesome Hula Pie for dessert. We had a very good experience and will certainly go again.

Food is just average, nothing special. We started with the seafood pilar, was so so, flatbread with fig n pig was below average, had fish taco and honestly Bana fresh makes them better for half the price , food for thought ...

I had lunch here and ordered the spice rubbed ahi tuna sandwich. It was a very good sandwich! Tuna was cooked perfect and the fixins on the sandwich complimented the tuna very well! The location and ambiance is beachy and the service was great. Nice little spot in HB.

I was pleasantly surprised by the burgers here. When I first saw the menu I wasn't sure if I should stay but I was enjoying the beautiful view and the chill atmosphere so I asked the server what to order. I got the blacked blue burger. YUM! It was so good. My husband liked his to it was a jalapeno something burger. They could use some help on the mixed cocktails, not that good. The beer was ice cold though. -Service was great -View was beautiful -Atmosphere was casual and comfortable

What's not to love about Sandy's? It's the perfect place to grab a bite on the beach. Great menu, great view. We come here often and it's always, consistently awesome.

I went in and the service was terrible. First off tje tvs are way too small. What is the point of going if I cannot watch a sports game. The place was not very full, Infact the place was quite empty and the employees did not seem happy. The seats and stools ate very uncomfortable. It seems like they want to serve you and for you to leave as quickly as possible. The food is not that good and is overpriced especially given the poor atmosphere and customer service. I will not ever go back to this place. This place needs a change of management. Thanks for the poor experience.

Amazing! Stopped in on a drive up the coast for lunch. It was recommended by Tony at Hertz car rental in Long Beach. His mother has a little store on the pier. Was a bit worried it was a tourist spot and would be over charged for mediocre food. Exactly the opposite. We were greeted by very friendly people and taken to a table on the patio. Beautiful day with a slight breeze and watching people play volleyball. Our server Bob was delightful, friendly, and knowledgeable. He offered suggestions as well as a bread basket that we declined. Very nice to not have it just placed in front of you and wasted. The menu had a great selection and very reasonable prices. We shared the lobster and shrimp layered cocktail and fish tacos. The freshness was perfection. Light and well balanced. The tacos were some of the best I've ever had. Looking forward to a return to the area to have more of this fantastic food!!!

My company recently held a celebratory event at Sandy's! 40+ guests including children makes for a very hectic time. The waiters and waitresses however sailed through the entire afternoon with ease. They were incredibly accommodating and very helpful. The food was delicious and everyone had a good time! A special thanks to Brad, the bartender, who suggested Sandy's as the location of our event! We will definitely be back.

My husband & I visited for dinner after buying a Living Social deal. We thought we'd try this restaurant. We really enjoyed ourselves & loved the food! Great beach-front location. We had a reservation and were seated right away. It did take about 15 min. for a server to come by our table, however it was really busy. Apparently it is always pretty busy, so pack your patience. Our server was Misty who, despite working a double shift, was super friendly, very personable & offered great service. We had a shrimp appetizer, Sea Bass & Steak for the entrees and the Hula pie for dessert. Delicious!! The presentation was fantastic and the flavors melded well. The bread and basil butter is quite tasty too. Highly recommend it. We are coming back for their weekend breakfast. *Note* parking can be a bit tricky. It's best to use their valet service for a flat rate of $6. Worth it.

First visit and really, really liked our meals and the service. Had the mushroom, heirloom tomatoes, lentil stacked thingy and despite not being much of a vegetarian found it both satisfying and great tasting. Eating companion had the spicy tuna sandwich and it was the perfect combo of tuna, little bit of sweet, little bit of spicy. Then came the world famous Hula Pie. Amazing.

Our server Coren (koren) was great! Very attentive to my son and I on a Monday lunch. Restaurant was slow inside but moderately busy outside. A wonderful breeze coming into the restaurant from The ocean. Food was very good. I got the classic burger, medium, cooked perfectly. I substituted fries for sweet potato fries. My son got the corn dog. First impression is everything! The host on the other hand was not too friendly. Believe they said her name was Brooklyn. We asked for a table inside near a plug since my camera died. I didn't think this was an outrageous request. She rolled her eyes at the other host thinking I didn't see. I've been a server for over 7 years. I know sometimes request such as sitting next to a plug is a hassle when it's busy. Maybe. Overall though. Good service good food. Work on the attitude Brooklyn. Ask for Coren. Get the sweet potato fries and the lager from SF!

The restaurant was nearly half empty but there seemed to still be an hour wait time for a party of 4. Service was terrible. It took a long time to get our order taken, and even longer time to get our food order taken, a much, MUCH longer time to get our food and STILL longer to get our check. The food was mediocre at best. It was also cold. It's right on the beach, that's about the only plus.

I gave it 3 stars because I love love love the s'more dessert they have is the best thing you will ever have!! The view is great if you like to people watch but you are paying for it in the prices for the food. I got the French toast and there was three small squares with berries sprinkled on it and it wasn't even hot. It was really rich tasting battered with puddling for $10. The coffee isn't anything special either. My sister Ordered the pancakes which she was was alright. They were the size of her plate.

Food is actually decent. Staff is incompetent! Four hostesses on a Sunday. Tables visually clean and open. Turning people away and stating a 1 hr wait. Subsequent people walk in (also no reservation) and are seated first but they are a table of 6! We are a table of 3. Wait staff stumbling over each other because tables are empty and nothing to do. AMAZING incompetence. Not one sign of management. Upstairs, Duke's was packed and lines out the door. Down stairs they clearly wanted no business. The salmon salad was tasty. Sweet potato fries very good. Wedge salad ok but they forgot the bacon (gladly brought me some when asked). Black bean burger average at best. When will restaurant owners understand how important first impressions are.

Disappointed - I've experienced much better, Food was cold, and even when I informed the waiter, it still came back barely warmer, Small portions, and expensive. I suppose one pays for the view.. I love this place. The view is gorgeous. The food is good. Prices are fair. Staff is funny and friendly. Best atmosphere if you need to unwind. I recommend the ceviche and a Land Shark lager for a hot day. It's light but filling and you can just relax on the beach, which is literally steps away. Always a good time here.

The appetizers were very good. The sea bass was over cooked and very dry, but sat on top of an excellent shrimp cous cous, which was more like a shrimp risotto. After being sent back, the sea bass returned cooked properly.

I have never been one to write negative reviews, but after my visit to Sandys yesterday late afternoon, I have to. Went for happy hour with some friends, sat down on the patio which was nice...server greeted us and I immediately asked for the crispy fried green beans and a vodka grapefruit with a splash of soda. Also when I ordered, I asked for soy sauce. About 8 minutes go by, and she brings out our drinks....mine is clear with a splash of bright red....um hello??? Grapefruit is a foggy light pink...I tasted it thinking maybe it's a different kind of grapefruit cocktail...no...it was vodka soda with grenadine. I approached our server Marianne to ask about my drink over by the POS system(where servers put in their orders) since she didn't feel the need to come quality check us. After telling her my drink was wrong she told me she would get me another one...I reminded her at that time about the soy sauce....finally I got my drink...my friends ordered food. Still I haven't gotten my food or sauce...it's been 20 minutes by this point....cool, so then my friends get their food and still I haven't been given mine. I asked the food runner about my food....then I WATCHED her walk over to my waitress(Marianne) and ask her...then Marianne went to the POS and ordered my food....wow so she completely forgot this entire time...write it down next time...then the best part is she came over and lied by saying "oh there was a problem making them but they will be right out" um hello I just watched you ring them in....okay so moving on...I get my food...and ask the runner to get me soy sauce because obviously Marianne has forgotten once more after asking her 3 previous times...he brings out some thick molasses looking sauce...okay so I ask Marianne what it is and she acts like she has no clue and is laughing...long story short I finally got the soy sauce when I had 3 beans left on my plate...she never sent over the manager...and felt the need to charge me for all of it...what a joke. Just because of the service I will never return to this place...and since I work for a restaurant and my best friend is a publicist for the restaurant industry...I will make sure to share this experience. I wish I could do zero stars...but 1 is enough because the hostesses were great and the location was too.

I wanted to take my girlfriend to a cool restaurant off the PCH, and I'm glad I came. Restaurant was reasonably priced, service was great, and extremely friendly. I was super grateful that as a celiac, I had lots of questions, and our waitress Korinne grabbed the head chef Mason and he personally talked to us and made sure he did it to my specifications. Can't tell you how much I enjoyed our meal. Now, if only there was a humane way to silence the screaming toddler behind us...

OMG, the worst, WORST service ever!! The waitress acted like we were all there to look at her, get over it, your not that hot. We sat outside (9-21) and waited and waited and waited and waited for our waters. FINALLY she comes back (gone to get the "chalkboard beer list" for James and returns empty handed and asks what we would like to drink. "We are still waiting for the beer list" I said, "Oh, no wonder I don't remember what you ordered, giggling and acting like a total tool she said. Then after getting the list, telling her the order, she brought out the beer with a dirty glass. When I told her it's dirty she said, "Oh no it's not, its just from the freezer" No, it's dirty, take it back...Oh my the whole ordeal to just get one beer, MIND NUMBING TOURIST TRAP.

SERVICE, SERVICE, SERVICE please.......It all started very good at 11 am, then my party showed up and it went all bad from this point. The ambiance and the atmosphere was delightful and had a good vibe, lots of smiles, and friendly. The attire was casual but classy. Being that this location is right on the beach, and just below Dukes, and from reading previous reviews, I had to check it out for my self. Sandy's Beach Grill received over 200 reviews and was considered a 3 1/2 stars, I had to check this out for myself, besides, the party I was with really wanted to go to a restaurant right on the beach. I liked that the location is beach side and even from sitting inside you can look straight out to the beach. For my first experience, I was pleased and excited to have great experience regardless of what I've read about the reviews. Sure enough, the reviews confirmed what I did not want to expect. Most of the reviews I read gave a 3 start and it was because of the service. This was the same for me except that I am giving a fair and honest review and giving Sandy's Beach Grill a 2 star, this is for the service and that the manager got involved. Our waiter continued to struggle throughout the time we were there and at one point the manager got involved for a brief moment because he said that he can see that our waiter was struggling with his service. The waiter wasn't able to get our orders correct from our drinks, to our appetizer then to our meals even our bill wasn't correct. At the time of our service and the ordering of our food, I noticed at another table that there were kids menus. When I asked my server why I didn't get a children menus, his response was that it was the hostess responsibility to get them. I stated to him that I never been here before and it wasn't even on the main menu so I ordered from the adult menu. It was very sad because he didn't know the items on the main menu let alone the kids menu. Our waiter did not get most of our orders correct and had to return a couple of times with the correct items that were not given at the time of the first order. I kinda felt bad for our waiter so I asked the manager if he was new and in training because we have a party of 9 and if he is struggling that he should get some assistance, unfortunately, he was not new. I and the others at my table expressed their concerns as well and when we got our bill, we had items on there that were not what we ordered. The manager was nice and stated that he apologized for the for the kind of service we receive d. I wasn't upset nor was I angry, rather I was a little embarrassed for our waiter, my guests and for the quality of Sandy's Grill. For the price of our meals, the service didn't match up, and I feel I didn't get what I paid for in the quality of our food and drinks to the level of customer service. Knowing the product and the customer is key and although our waiter was not a new employee, and this is a prime location being that it is right on the beach, I had a disappointing experience. I will return again because I believe in action not words and from the ambiance, the smiles, and the manager that jumped in to help, I believe in change I also believe that everyone has bad days, especially being in the food industry, dealing with many different times of people and their personalities, it is more likely to have a bad day or moment. I commend those who work in the food industry and feel that it is one of the hardest jobs that anyone can do. You can't please everyone and yet it is still a business and knowing your customer can make a huge difference. I'd like to return again in the near future to find out if it was just that I came at a bad time, the waiter was having a bad moment or day, or that there is a bigger problem not in just the service but rather that it is in management that can be the biggest reason for a 2 star review.

My husband and I went on a staycation to Huntington Beach, we stayed in the downtown area, so there were a number of places to eat. But, ultimately, we wanted the view and wanted a bar that wasn't packed. We found Sandy's behind Dukes and took a seat at the bar. The bartender, Tyler was nice. We had a couple of drinks and ordered the ceviche tower, the pickled vegetables and the mini meatball sliders. The Ceviche tower was not very good. The shrimp was just cooked and had a weird texture and there was too much advocado and not enough saltiness, which is what a ceviche is supposed to have. The pickles veggies were fantastic! I really really liked them! The Mini Meatball sliders were great too. Check the place out, the view is amazing and the bartenders are cool.

The strawberry lemonade is out of sight, very sweet. The rolls are a perfect combination of soft and flaky, paired with the rosemary butter you can't go wrong. The gilroy garlic fried green beans are delicious, the little garlic chips that come with the green beans are a perfect compliment to the green beans. The lobster bisque is ok, a little too much lobster taste for my liking. The mix it up is spectacular. It comes with a sweet potato chorizo corn hash, puréed sweet corn, asparagus, fish, shrimp, lobster and scallops. All of which are excellent. The bread pudding is good but extremely too sweet. The s'mores with a graham cracker brownie chocolate ice cream and toasted marshmallow cream was delicious, not overly sweet. The service is above average and the facility is cute, right next to the beach with a nice view.

Sunday brunch =) I grew up and lived in Huntington Beach my whole life and have only been here one other time. I took my Alabamian cousin and my sister here last week to have Sunday brunch. We all got coffee and shared a ceviche. Coffee and ceviche was fine. View was beautiful =) My only annoyance was the server. He didn't bring us sugar for our coffee and did not bring us other items we asked for. He took forever to bring us our requested bill. However, I would come back here again...

Sandys continues to be a nice place to have a burger, but please, stop at the burger. We went here for Fathers Day, and man, did everything else suck. My son ordered fish and chips. When it arrived, I could see the grease just pooling on the plate. I ordered the seared tuna, in the immortal words of Gordon Ramsey "it's RAW". Not seared, not even a hint of color on the fish. This fish didn't spend 1 minute in the pan. Quite a disappointment for $24. My daughters bacon and arugula pizza was nothing to get excited about. Thank goodness my husband stuck with the cheeseburger. At least he was not dissatisfied on Fathers Day.

I co-hosted a baby shower here this afternoon, and I have to say I was quite pleased. I'd never been to Sandy's before, but after this event I'd totally go back for dinner. Because we were at a private party, we had a smaller menu to choose from, but the entree was delicious. I had a prime flat iron steak and fries and it was great. Well seasoned and perfectly prepared. The salad and soup appetizers were a little lack luster, but not bad. Service was prompt and snappy, attentive, which is always nice especially with a large group. Every request was graciously accommodated. We sat out on the patio, which would have been perfect had it not been 92 degrees in Huntington Beach that day, but it was still a lovely scene. Parking was kind of a pain, as per usual this close to the beach. They did have a valet lot, but it wasn't open when I got there (opened, literally 10 minutes later) so the parking is the beach parking lot which is pay per hour at the machine and put the receipt on the dash. Valet would have been cheaper had I been 10 minutes later. Overall, I'm a fan. The food was good, good enough for me to come back and try something else another time.

So I made a reservation for mother's day for 3 adults at 1:15 on Open Table. We ended up having 5 adults and 2 kids in our party so I called them and they were very accommodating. they said go ahead and come in at that time but did state we might have to wait a little longer with the additional people in our group. We arrived at the stated time and only waited about 10 minutes for our table on the patio with an awesome view (see picture). The server was very pleasant and upbeat, but the service was pretty slow. I know, it's mother's day and they were busy but it took quite a while just to get a couple of drinks and some water. Everyone we encountered however was friendly and smiling so that's a plus. The food was pretty good for most in the party. I ordered a turkey burger and unfortunately is was way overcooked. I know I like my turkey burger to be done, but it was pretty charred on one side and so dry it really had no flavor whatsoever. My son got a ceasar salad with chicken since he wasn't that hungry. He said the chicken was also overcooked and dry. He and my mom ordered Old Fashioneds to drink and I could smell the alcohol from the other side of the table, so kudos for the strong drinks. Wish I could say the same about my bloody mary...while the flavor was good it was not very strong. Everyone else in the party said their food was good. All in all it was a fairly nice experience. I would give more starts just for the view, but the food was not up to par IMHO.

This is a good little spot right on the Pacific Ocean in Huntington Beach, so the location is 5 stars. Obviously this place is crawling with tourist and locals that are wanting beachfront dining without the $$$$ price. The service was slow and not very astute. The food was decent, I had the Fig, Arugula and Prosciutto flatbread and garlic battered green beans. The green beans were very good.... But isn't everything fried really good. I would go back to try additional menu items, but not a blow your doors off eatery.

Decent place to get an average meal and drink on the beach at the end of the boardwalk in HB. Service was good, but the food was average and patio was a very basic experience. We were at Dukes a few nights earlier and it was a little better all the way around. Go in with the correct expectations and you will be pleased.

Had lunch with the family on a weekday after a nice stroll on the beach in the morning. First time at Sandy's, and I am pretty sure that it won't be the last. All of the food we ordered was delicious. Started out with skillet baked corn bread (be sure to order it ahead of time because it takes a while to prepare), seared scallops (on sweet potato -- how original and yummy!), and a couple of fresh oysters. For the main course, we had the mahi mahi (lunch special) and prawn salad. The food was great; the service was good. Enjoying a delicious lunch while being gently wafted by fresh sea breeze on a sunny day -- couldn't ask for a better start to the day.

3.5 stars would be more accurate. This is a pretty decent place for dinner. Perhaps a bit pricey, but the breakfast and lunch items look reasonable. We hat the flat iron steak and the fig blue cheese flat bread. The streak looked good, and the chimichurri was great. It was a bit under cooked (we asked for mid-rare, and it was well below that). The flat-bread was ok. I can do as good or better. The drinks were good. The specialty martinis we okay, a bit too sweet. The whisky drinks were spot on. Service was slow at times. We'd come back again.

We had lunch here and it was wonderful! Definitely one of the best to choose from downtown HB! Great view, nice atmosphere, delicious food and great service made this place better than most of the others downtown HB. My husband and I both split the roasted turkey and Brie (it was delicious) and their BBQ chicken salad. Both were wonderful and were also very large which made it perfect to split. Wine selection was great.... They also have delicious bread they bring to the table so don't forgot to try that too! We'll definitely be back again soon!

Worst service ever! An hour and 15 minute wait for food that was mediocre. When asking the server when the food was coming he said its a busy night and I'll send my manager. The manager comes and says it's a busy night and I'll send dessert, which never happened. I'll never come back! There are better options in HB!

So, after eating at Pizza Lounge, we walked over to Sandy's Beach Grill to have some drinks. My friends literally all ordered drinks... and I ordered a... a... a... Pina Colada. Haha. Yes of all things, but I was keeping with my Coconut them from the Pizza Lounge. Anyway, this was a bad choice because it tasted like terrible pre-mix. If I could go back again, I should've changed my order to something else. Anyway, my friends were all happy with their beer orders. We sat outside and the view was perfect for a sunset. The service was really good too. The waiter quickly took our orders and brought them out so no complaints there. Anyway, try this place out... you can grab a bite to eat or a drink and then head to the beach... it's right next to it!

Just had fabulous fish tacos and fish and chips. The fish is VERY lightly coated and not greasy at all. Sauce for the fish tacos has won awards last two years. excellent Maitai From tyler. He is a great bartender. Great food. I have been coming here for years and have NEVER had bad service or food. . Great beach views adds to experience.. if you are a local. . Come often! This might be my new favorite place. I recently rode my bike down to Huntington Beach for a quick surf and decided to grab a bit to eat afterward. Lucky for me I stopped in during happy hour and ordered the jalapeno/date hamburger. Maybe it was partly because I was starving, but this burger was incredible. The perfect balance between spicy and sweet...and all for $7. Killer deal.

Great location, underneath Duke's, right outside are the volleyball nets next to the pier. Pros: Kobe burger was excellent, bleu cheese mac n cheese was very good, drinks were strong and tasty. Oysters were good, kinda small. Prices weren't as insane as I thought they might be considering the prime location. Cons: Flat Iron steak was not very good. Chewy and just not a good cut. The chimichurri on top of it though was very good. Service and kitchen were super slow but it was Saturday night so they get a pass because service was friendly. Would definitely eat here again.

Sandy's is the type of place I like to take someone special. Not because it's super romantic (at least maybe not during brunch) but because the killer location. It is literally on the beach path next to the Huntington Beach Pier. Any closer and you'd have sand in your toes. The food here has never disappointed me and the Mai Tais are delicious and worth the drive alone. If you are looking for that SUPER BEACH place to take people, this is it. The waitstaff is pretty easy on the eyes too! ;)

Sandy's is a great, inexpensive restaurant with a beautiful view. The only downside (which is why the -1) is that it took almost forty minutes for our meal to be delivered. We were starving and the food never came. But when it did come, it was delicious! I ordered the Quinoa Black Bean Burger but had it come as a lettuce wrap since I'm allergic to gluten. I usually hate quinoa but the combination was so yummy! It wasn't bland at all. They also add a few extra veggies like cucumbers. If you don't like them, they can easily be removed and will taste like they were never on there. I ordered the sweet potatoes with them but they came out with the potato chips. It's not a big deal but having to wait that long to have the wrong order was a bit annoying but certainly doesn't tick off a point. Our server (I think his name was Matt) was super nice! He came by so many times, making sure we didn't want any more water or more drinks and came to pick up our plates almost as soon as we were done with them. Back to the chips and potatoes: both were surprisingly yummy! Something as simple as potato chips made the meal that more enjoyable. Along with my food, I had a virgin margarita. This was okay although both times I drank it, it was over soured (is that even a word?). They put a lime on the edge of the cup but I didn't even attempt to squeeze it unless I wanted to look like I had Sour Patch Kids. At the bottom of the drink was just water so it was kind of a disappointment when you finished. OVERALL, this place is great! Expect to wait if they're busy. My burger was only $10.50, which is amazing to me since it was only, maybe, twenty feet from the sand. I'll definitely eat there again when I go back to Huntington Beach (which is a beautiful beach, if I might add).

I love the setting and the view!! Dinner on the beach is always a win. I dined here for a friend's b-day and it was a good time. They accommodated our 13 person party very well. Our server was very nice and efficient. The dishes I tasted were all super delicious! My bf and I shared a Kobe burger and steak flatbread. OMG. Both were exceptional. You cannot go wrong order either (or both) of these dishes. The table shared the cornbread appetizer. It came in a warm skillet with a honey sriracha butter that sent it over the top. For my friend's birthday, our server brought out Sandy's Signature S'more. Umm.. BEST S'MORE I'VE EVER HAD. I'm still craving the graham brownie. Absolutely amazing Everyone at the table had a bite and shared the same sentiment. The only reason I gave Sandy's 4 stars versus 5 is due to a few things... -It's a little hard to find if you don't know the area -It seems like there is no where else to park except their $6 valet (I think it's $6, don't remember exactly) -The kitchen was pretty slow, but it was a busy night, so I get it. -The server couldn't split ONE bill off of the entire bill... We just wanted one small separate bill and one big group big. I understand not being able to split into 5 or 6 tickets, but you can't split into two? We figured it out, but still. -No surf & turf dish?! At least not on the night we were there. So strange to me. You have steak... you have seafood...but no combined dish. Again, we were fine and the food was great, just seems weird. *shrugs* Overall, Sandy's is definitely WORTH THE VISIT. Make sure you get the S'mores dessert. You don't have to thank me later, or you can.

We decided to dine at Sandy's to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary for several reasons: the food has never disappointed us, the bar & wait ataff is very friendly, the ocean view can't be beat & we have been enjoying meals here for decades during different corporate owners and company name changes. Our evening was enjoyable. The watermelon martini I ordered was refreshing and not too sweet. The bartender was attentive and cheerful. The short rib tots appetizer was cooked to perfection- not overly-fried or greasely. The reason why I'm only giving a 3 star rating is because we were forced to wait over well over the 25 minute wait time given to us. We didn't.t mind waiting. What we did mind was waiting significantly longer while 14 indoor and 6 outdoor tables remained empty. My husband must have read my mind, because after a long wait, he left the bar to ask the hostess how much longer our wait would be. Approximately 10 minutes later we were seated. Our waitress, Maryann, was very friendly. She gave us some wonderful wine suggestions and took our orders. As time begin to elapse, and without any prompting, Maryann brought us an appetizer to appease our increasing hunger. We were very appreciative of her thoughtfulness. Our dinners arrived and they were DELICIOUS! My Kobe beef burger was cooked to perfection. My fries were crisp and fresh. For dessert we ordered the seaonal hula pie with rocky road ice cream & walnuts. That too was a superb dessert and well worth every calorie. The reason why I'm giving a 3 star review is because we were forced to wait far too long to be seated. We came to Sandy's on a Wednesday, not during the busy weekend. It is a pet peeve of mine to make customers wait while numerous tables remain vacant. Sandy's is located in a beach community. I find it difficult to believe, that during the summer season, Sandy's is not staffed to accommodate the extra business due to tourism & the locals getting out and about more during the summer months. I believe businesses should respect the time of their customers. If there had been an issue with sraffing during our visit a simple explanation would have appeased us. It's not right to make customers wait well beyond the timeframe given to them. We bring our hard-earned money into your business, it's only right that you value our time.

This review is only for the happy hour. If you're in the area, this is a great place for happy hour. The reason for the 5 stars is the following: 1. Nice location - The ambiance is nice and clean and faces the beach since the location is right underneath Dukes. 2. Relatively large happy hour menu. They have burgers, fish tacos, flat breads, corn bread, and maybe 1-2 other things on the menu to choose from. Also, the discounts on the happy hour food is really good (sometimes $6-7) off from the regular price. Also, the drink menu is also relatively large. For $5 you can also get any skyy vodka drink in addition to the ones on the menu. Compared to Duke's happy hour here you get better food and drink options.

Restaurants around the beach are usually gimmicky and overpriced. Sandy's isn't. It's actually a very nice restaurant with excellent food and great service. Sandy's is located right on the boardwalk underneath Dukes. There isn't a dedicated parking lot so you'll have to use the beaches pay lots or park on Main St. The food here is awesome. We ordered: - Gilroy garlic green beans. Deep fried green beans with garlic served with ranch. Delicious. This is coming from a guy that hates vegetables. - Old school burger. Honestly, one of the best burgers I've ever had in my entire life. Trust me, I've had quite a few. It's served with some fries, which were "ehh alright". - Turkey brie sandwich. A tad bit on the dry side but nonetheless delicious. There were thin slices of apple in it, which was something different. - 2 sets of beer samplers. Some tasted great but others didn't. We still drank them though. Can't waste alcohol. Service here is always great. Our waitress was quick and attentive. The restaurant itself is clean and comfortable. It's a bit noisy at times but nothing unbearable. Sit at the patio for a nice view of the beach or just to watch people walk by. Sandy's is my favorite restaurant on HB. You should definitely give it a try.

With so many choices available I don't think I'll come back. Lunched on fish tacos and carnitas (pork) tacos. Both were a little disappointing. The fish was the better of the two and need little to make them enjoyable. The pork was dry and unbalanced in both flavor and moisture. Adding salsa did not cure the problems with the pork. Both were served on unwarmed corn tortillas straight from the refrigerated bag. Sides were good, nibblet corn and beans came with the pork. Chips came with the fish. Had the lemonade with muddled basil and a strawberry to drink. It was interesting and refreshing. There is a full bar. Service was fairly good and friendly. The facility is right on the beach with a good view of the ocean. Indoor and covered patio seating. All surfaces are hard so the noise volume is very loud, hard for casual discussions. Parking is difficult in the area during the summer unless you valet park, $6. Rating benefits from the service, open decor, and location.

We stopped in to have breakfast and to our supprise it was fantastic. The food was great along with the drinks. Our server who I can not recall his name was awesome. We went on a busy saterday morning and he stayed on top of our food and drinks. I forsure recomand this spot. Try the briefest pizza and the surfer eggs.

Nice little restaurant and bar right on the sand at Huntington Beach. We only had a couple of drinks and some oysters, but everything was great and the view and ambiance were perfect. I would go there again any time.

Wasn't a huge fan of this place. Great view, mediocre food. It's located right on the beachfront, with the sand creeping into the patio area, so a prime location. But unfortunately, the food was just meh. Actually, more hit or miss where they had some pretty solid appetizers, but the main course fell short. The ceviche was one of those solid dishes, fresh fish, nice kick of jalapeno with tangy citrus. Cornbread was also delicious with an interesting sriracha honey butter, which I pretty much used to compliment everything. The fried green beans were crunchy with a light beer batter, just wish it wasn't so salty. As for the main entree, I ended up with the steak. Definitely not a steakhouse. The meat was chewy and bland. Most were also undercooked with medium rares coming out raw and bleeding and the medium looking more like the medium rare with a red center. Those that ordered the fish of the day, which happened to be Chilean sea bass, fared much better. So would stick with seafood...which makes sense :P Overall, I would give the food a 2, but bump it up for the ambiance and attentive service.

My husband and I went to Sandy's to celebrate our anniversary. We are HB locals and have heard great reviews from friends about Sandy's. We decided to try it despite having previous bad experiences when it was under different ownership. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating. We knew there would be a wait as it was a Saturday night around sunset. We were in no rush and decided to sit at the bar and have a drink. Took 10 minutes before the bartender even acknowledge us and we had to ask him to clean the bar for us from the previous customers. 15.00 for 2 beers with terrible service. Our table was ready much earlier than expected which was a plus. We got a great table with a great view. They first tried to seat us by the work stations but seeing there were other tables available my husband requested a different table. Ordered ceviche! Delicious!! Our server was not very attentive at all!! I saw plenty of other tables get bread.. Not sure if he skipped us or we were supposed to ask for it? I had to ask if they had a special. And they did but he wasn't quite sure what this fish was seasoned with.. He said I think salt and pepper. Ok well we had already finished our appetizer and wanted to order so we decided on our meals.. Food came out and I had no fork to eat with. My husband ordered steak and no knife to cut with. 7 minutes to get someone to bring us utensils to eat. My husbands steak was tough and not enjoyable. Finally we got the bill. And they ran the card and took another 10 minutes for us to get a pen to sign it with. Maybe we just have bad experiences at Sandys. We have been going to Dukes for over 10 years and love it! I am pretty sure they are owned by the same people now? It's a very pretty, romantic place with a great view. Not sure it's worth the hassle.

We've come here a few times and have had great food and service each time. Consistent quality. We really enjoyed their cornbread and short rib tots. Although you only get 3 pieces of the short rib tots. The layered seafood cocktail is a must try. The Gilroy Garlic Fried Green Beans were more like tempura battered. They were not as crispy as I would have liked and were a bit over salted. Entrees we shared included the Seabass, Prime Flat Iron Steak, Fish and Chips and the Kobe Burger. The Seabass was cooked perfectly and the couscous was an amazing pairing with it. I would highly recommend ordering this dish. The steak was tender even though we ordered medium well but no one really enjoyed the blue cheese mac and cheese that came with this dish. The Fish and Chips was OK some liked it more than others. I felt like the fish was too soft and mushy. But the Kobe Burger was really delectable. It was packed with flavor, tender and juicy and everything you want your burger to be. Kids meals are no fuss here, you don't get dessert or juice it's just a dish. One ordered the shrimp with fries. You can choose between fries or fruit. And another ordered a cheese pizza, no accompaniments with the pizza. You can't really go wrong with a cheese pizza. The Kids Grilled Shrimp dish was a decent portion, cooked well, and surprisingly better than expected. Photos soon to follow. For dessert we had Sandy's Signature Smore's dish as they had run out of the Hula pie which we were really looking forward to trying. As decadent as the Smore's which is basically marshmallow topping on top of chocolate ice cream on top of a brownie - we did not finish this dish. Would not order it again. But would like to come back for the Hula Pie! Oh and you get a lovely view of the Beach!

I've been to HB numerous times, and have never heard of Sandy's. We saw a sign for their happy hour near Duke's Restaurant. Sandy's is located just below Duke's, and if you get a seat in the covered patio, there is a great beach sunset while you enjoy happy hour drinks and appetizers. Our server, Blake, was very friendly and attentive. The steak flatbread and fish and chips were delicious and definitely affordable at happy hour. We also tried both types of margaritas, and the rum and ginger drink. The rum/ginger was just ok - I opted for a red wine next. The chef's special dessert was a molten chocolate cake with cinnamon and vanilla ice cream. It was pretty good. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in HB. I want to try their fish tacos and burgers!

We stumbled onto this place while riding the Huntington Beach bike trail and were very pleasantly surprised. Great ambience, very casual, right on the beach. I had the seafood cocktail which was very fresh with micro greens and remoulade sauce. Yum! My friend had the shrimp and crab burger...also excellent. Friendly service too. We'll be back!

Add a star if you want your out of town guests to have an iconic SoCal lunch with beach view. Don't arrive without a reservation or plan to wait. Valet parking a must for $6 as street parking is non-existent. (TIP: pay for valet, good for up to three hours. Eat, walk out the back and wander the beach & pier for two hours, get your car in front. A no hassle, bonus good-time) Casual. Expected noise level. Nice outside seating area 10 yards from the beach and 20 yards from the pier. Basic seafood based Cali bar menu. Overpiriced specialty drinks. We had the fish tacos and spicy ahi sandwich. Wholy unremarkable, un-inspiring and overpriced food.

Ambiance - We sat outside where we had a lovely view of he volleyball courts and the ocean. We didn't sit inside but the bar area also looked nice. We came in with the living social coupon and were given a separate menu. Make sure you let them know ahead of time so you can use the coupon. Food- I would Recommend the seafood cocktail appetizer. It was delicious! The sea bass was delicious and the hula pie desert was decadent and perfect. We also enjoyed the sweet potato fries and the home made bread rolls. Service - the service was great. The waitress was very attentive and sweet. We didn't feel the service faltered even though we had a coupon. Location - prime location in the heart of Huntington Beach downtown

My husband and I came for happy hour Friday so this review is specifically for HAPPY HOUR. The happy hour menu is more limited than I remember from my last visit about a year ago. We were seated right next to the window. The place has the best spot at the beach - right at the sand. I was surprised to see hardly anyone there. Duke's upstairs was packed but this better location was empty. When we arrived, maybe 4 tables on the patio were occupied. WHAT?! My husband ordered the jalapeno-date burger and liked it. We also ordered the scallops served on yams (not on happy hour) and they were superb. I ordered the happy hour menu's flatbread with steak and boursin. Wow at the garlic taste! It overpowered the steak and cheese flavors. I brought the left-overs home and a few hours later had to toss them. When I opened the fridge, I almost passed out at the garlic smell. I later drank a bottle of water that I took from the fridge and it smelled like garlic. I'm a garlic-lover but that is extreme. My husband stayed clear until the next day. Although I love the patio area, I probably won't return until the happy hour menu changes. When it does, there may be more options for me that would entice me back.

We went back to Sandy's after the manager took the time to read my review and wanted to make sure he improved our experience. We went 4th of July weekend and the place was packed. We were offered service as soon as we sat down and the service this time was prompt, friendly and accurate. We ordered different food and it came quickly and tasted great. I think the last time we went was maybe just a fluke experience. Food and service was great and the atmosphere was great as usual. if it's always like this I'll be coming back.

I really enjoyed my time at Sandy's. My coworker has been making the trip to HB to work with a specific client for 8+ years, so she has her set restaurants she goes to while in the area, and I was grateful to her expertise since it landed us at Sandy's. When my coworker and I first arrived, there was a wait, so we went to the bar for a glass of red wine to kill time before being seated. Their wine and cocktail list is varied, with mostly California wines (if not all - I can't recall from memory) on the menu. I had a delicious Pinot Noir (Angeline for only $8/glass) and my coworker really enjoyed her Zinfandel. The bar area is really cute and well spaced - and I'm still kicking myself for the fact that we didn't indulge in Taco Tuesday while waiting ($2.50 fried shrimp tacos sound pretty incredible). We were then seated relatively quickly in the glass-enclosed dining space that has perfect beach views. Our server was such a sweetheart, really bubbly and attentive who was quick to refill waters, take food orders, and check in to see if we wanted more wine (hint: always yes). I ordered the heirloom tomato and mushroom stack and my coworker had the sea bass. We also got a side of the truffle fries, which were delicious (even though I know Anthony Boudrain and every Top Chef judge wails over the use of truffle oil) and really crunchy (that wa the selling point for me). After getting our final glass of wine, we paid the bill and were able to then take our wine outside to the outdoor patio, complete with firepits (which in March was a really welcomed addition). It was gorgeous to sit outside, red wine in hand, and take in the fact that the beach is literally RIGHT there. On my next trips to HB, I'll definitely be returning to Sandy's - especially to have another glass of wine basically right on the beach.

Went to Sandy's this evening for dinner. Started with the scallops as an appetizer. They had wonderful flavor and cooked perfectly. Now, this is what warranted my 5 star review. I explained to my server I was from out of town and came to Sandy's specifically for Tacos. Taco's are not on the dinner menu. They went above and beyond for my request and made shrimp tacos for my last dinner in Huntington Beach. Kudos to this entire staff. Amazing food and even better service!

For goodness sake, update your menu! Limited selections are getting VERY boring for locals, production is tired, seems like you're counting on the view to carry you. Won't be back unless the food improves!

Sandy's menu & location are excellent - the perfect place to show off Huntington Beach to out-of-town guests. We've visited Sandy's several times & all of the food is great. We've never been disappointed in the classic yet unique flavors, with our favorite dishes being the ceviche and flat iron steak. Though friendly & kind, service at Sandy's is extremely weak. For some reason, every single visit is sprinkled with some type of server/management error. The first time, our waitress didn't put in our order & we had to wait an extra hour for our food. The second time, we reserved a table days in advance but still needed to wait an additional 45 minutes with our group before being seated. The most recent time, we came to celebrate my parents 40th anniversary & notified both hostesses about the special event, however no type of celebration/candle was offered - disappointing! We would have notified the server however she dropped off the check so quickly & the window for celebration kind of just closed on us. While the service is ultimately less than stellar, the talented kitchen as well as Sandy's prime location make it a nice place for a DTHB night.

I've always admired sandy's from afar- their wooden sign with the california cutout (maybe bc its so etsy-esque) and their clean glass window panels that give it that modern but classy look. We went here for dinner in september and they were great about making reservations and giving us a great seat facing the pier so we could watch the sunset. I ordered the seafood bisque at that time and I remember all my other friends really enjoyed their dinner plates (chimichurri steak, oysters, bbq ribs). FFW to today where I took my dear friend from high school who was in town for brunch at sandy's because I had heard good things on online articles. We were not disappointed. We split a breakfast pizza and the sweet potato hash. The start of our breakfast- definitely the hash. The salty chorizo contrasted perfectly with the sweet potato and then mixed in with some peppers and roasted corn= perfection. Im not usually a fan of poached eggs but these were amazing smothered in a creamy and dense hollandaise sauce. I am currently looking up recipes for how to recreate it at home but not sure if that'll ever be possible. If you come here for breakfast this IS a must have. The breakfast pizza was less exciting and a bit salty for my taste. It was good but nothing spectacular. I was debating whether or not to get the french toast but glad I didn't because when I saw the portion size and the normal wheat bread used- it wouldn't have been worth it. I like sandy's for its location and view and service has always been stellar in my opinion. The best part of the morning was walking in to a foggy beach and walking out to a perfect and clear 70 degrees. can't get much better than that in Socal :)

Seabass, Cesar salad, corn bread and arugula salad. Thought the Seabass was amazing! The cornbread was just okay. The Caesar salad was excellent! The arugula salad was just OK. Would recommend the arugula salad without bacon. I don't eat bacon/or pork so this was something I ordered without. The front desk was sweet, very friendly. Waitress with the diamond earring studs and blonde hair was awesome! (Sorry I didn't get your name.) she was super sweet to my boys, and was VERY patient. The outside patio was really nice. All in all I thought this was a great place. Two thumbs up for me!

I came to Sandys with my in-laws, it had a great ambiance and vibe. Loved everything on the menu especially the Gilroy Garlic green bean fries and their mock tails! But I was a little annoyed with how I repeatedly asked for lemon for my water and it took the waitress a few times to get it. Not only that she would fill up everyone's water that needed to be filled but not mine? My cup was clearly visible and didn't get refilled once. It was completely empty. I tried to ask her but she would dart off as soon as she filled the others. I also ordered my burger with aioli on the side, but it came all over the bun. I also ordered my burger medium- pink throughout.. It came medium rare because it was basically red throughout. On top of that I found a small hair on my plate right as I finished. It was no one at our tables because it was a different color than all of our hairs.. I was really disappointed with Sandys service. Update: Sandys has great customer service! They contacted me and reached out to make things right! I always always return business if they make it right. Im planning to go back to give Sandys another shot.

I have always walked past this place and have always wanted to try it, today was the day. The Hula Pie was to die for if you like Ice Cream! The lemonade is so fresh and yummy. The BBQ salad was pretty good, but I like the fish tacos better. The appetizers and bread were yummy, but the buffalo shrimp is spicy. Warning! The music is amazing here. The view just takes the cake. It was a little chilly, but they have heaters.

Honestly 3.5 This place has a great view of the beach, which its right off of and a great atmosphere. We had a great server who was nice and knew the menu. I ordered the flat iron steak which was pretty good except for the sauce. However that seemed to be a recurring theme at the table. The food just kept coming up short. For that reason I found it a little pricey but I still might come here again if I'm in LA. Also the Cesar was really, really good!

The location of this place is awesome, in the off season. Since I am an HB local I try to steer clear of this place in the summer. Overall the food is good, and the staff are friendly. The service is not very consistent though so it can depend on the day and who serves you. Always a good time sitting at the bar with a cocktail. The best item on the menu is the ahi sandwich. I highly recommend.

Yum, we are so happy we chose Sandy's. Their ceviche was second best compared to the one I devoured in Todos Los Santos, Mexico, but it was still good nonetheless. Their fresh oysters were very good, I could have eaten more for dessert had I not seen churros with chocolate dipping sauce (tasted like chocolate pudding) on the dessert menu. The catch of the day (salmon with lentil salad) was very tasty, and the fish tacos were delectable as well. The patio seating is really nice. It blocks most of the hot sun while still giving you a view of the beach and people playing volleyball.

If you are in the huntington beach area looking for good quality food and service, Sandy's is the way to go. The fish and food is very fresh, the bread is served hot with a wonderful garlic butter spread. Waiteress service is exceptional and professional. Clean, with a beautiful view of the beach and ocean. Really no reason you wouldnt want to dine here! Enjoy!

A couple of months ago, we went to Sandy's for dinner. The wait for a table was way too long especially since half of the tables were empty. My thoughts were why an ocean front restaurant is half empty on a Saturday night. After we were seated, our orders took way too long to be delivered to our table. We were looking at some of the other guests and they were feeling a bit discouraged as well. When our food came, our dinners were cold and our appetizer came out after our meals. The manager comped our dinner and we just paid for the tip. The manager also gave us a $50 gift certificate to come back. So we went back this past Monday night hoping to see some improvement in the service and food. The service is still super slow and we had to ask twice for our drinks and food. I hate having to remind the server for what I ordered. The food was good this time. Not sure if I will go back.

Had unpleasant dining experience there. They canceled my reservation when I arrived 10mins late, saying they normally cancel the reservation after 5mins. What?? So i asked for inside booth table since a lot of inside tables were open (normally only outside patio seats are busy), but made me wait for another 20mins and got so upset when I found out it was ready and open for walk in whole time. Foods were very salty! Some good things~ nice view and my server was friendly Updated review since the manager cares abt customers
